Introduction to Mindfulness Day
With Jane Barker
Mindfulness is a different way to approach your life, one that helps you to stop and appreciate the present moment. It is based on age-old meditation practices, but without the difficult postures, free of any religious association and is practical for everyday use – from dealing with stress at work, queues at the supermarket or being held up in traffic. There is no chanting or burning of incense involved, Jane promises!
Mindfulness is a life-enhancing, very gentle and compassionate practice, which can help you to relax more easily, cope with difficulty better and live a fuller and happier life. Research has also shown that it can help people with a range of problems including insomnia, stress, depression, chronic pain, and anxiety.
By giving you permission to slow down, and by helping you to ‘wake up’ to life, and truly appreciate the present moment, mindfulness helps you regain precious time, finding peace and tranquility in the midst of the chaos, one breath at a time.
